SAJ INDEPENDENCE FILM
A documentary about the tragedy of parents whose children were taken away by the Jugendant, an organization responsible for child welfare in Germany. During the meetings with the biological parents and their children, it is forbidden to speak in your native tongue or show the child any emotions. The parents must pay the institution childcare. The film crew interviewed a government official who previously worked at the organization. He states that in Germany the Jugendamt is a lucrative business. The creators try to explain what the parents really pay and how the payments are calculated. They also show an attempt to rescue children from the organization, German families who are hiding in Poland, and the escape of a Polish family trying to get back home with their children.
