Already in two weeks, the 29th Polish Film Festival in America, the world’s most extensive annual showcase of Polish film outside of Poland will kick off!

Numerous outstanding Polish filmmakers will come to meet the PFFA audiences and introduce their films. At the Gala Opening Krzysztof Zanussi (Structure of a Crystal, Family Life), one of the masters of European cinema, will receive his PFFA ”Wings” for lifetime achievements in the art of film outside of Poland. His moving and thought-provoking picture THE REVISITED will be exhibited at a special screening (Facets Cinematheque, 11/10 @ 7:00 PM.).

The Opening Night movie, exciting thriller LULLABY KILLER will be introduced by its internationally-acclaimed director Krzysztof Lang (Paper Marriage, Provocateur), Andrzej Chyra (The Debt, The Collector, Katyn), one of the most popular and revered Polish screen actors, and producers Jacek Kulczycki and Magda Zimecka.

Eminent director and sciptwriter Jan Kidawa-Blonski ( Sentenced for Blues, Little Rose) will be present at the screening of his most recent hit STARS (AMC Rosemont 18, 11/14 @ 7:30 PM.).

At the showing of electrifying and beautiful HAPPINESS OF THE WORLD (AMC Rosemont 18, 11/12 @ 4:00 PM.) the audience will meet its veteran director Michal Rosa (Time of Honor, Scratch).

Andrzej Fidyk, whose unique documentary films belong to the world classics of the genre, a man who promulgated a documentary on a TV primetime in Poland, will show his two famous works: THE PARADE, one of the best films ever made about North Korea and superfunny BATTU’S BIOSCOPE about travelling cinema in India (Facets Cinematheque, 11/11 @ 8:45 PM.). Following the screening and Q&A, the author will be signing his new book (in Polish) „The World of Andrzej Fidyk.”

Among numerous documentary filmmakers who will arrive to Chicago one must not overlook meeting Edyta Wroblewska (Small Instruments) who is going to show her new ZYGMUNT HUBNER – PLAYING WITH REALITY about legendary Polish theatre director (Gallery Theatre, 11/6 @ 7:30 PM.). Monika Melen will introduce her award-winning FOR STANLEY BY STANLEY (Gallery Theatre, 11/11 @ 7:00 PM.). Finally,producer Agnieszka Traczewska, a founder of the respected Cracow-based Largo Film Studio, will host three evenings of retrospective presentation of her best documentaries, including: AN ORDINARY MARCH, THE GDANSKI RAILWAY STATION, PROFESSOR about Leszek Kolakowski, VERA GRAN, and MAGIC MOUNTAIN about the Nobel Prize poet Czeslaw Milosz (Gallery Theatre, 11/13-15 @ 7:30 PM.).

And last but not least, the festival organizers also expect a presence of filmmakers from the film which is announced as a SURPRISE SCREENING (AMC Rosemont 18, 11/18 @ 7:30 PM.). However, we are not allowed to spill the beans yet what the title is and who will introduce it.
