The shocking film, which under the façade of “sports reportage” from the famous race “great Pardubicka” in Czech Pardubice, shows how great price: extreme struggle, fear, pain and even death, pay for this exciting people entertained the main players – racing horses.
Wstrząsający film, który pod pozorem “sportowego reportażu” ze słynnej gonitwy “Wielka Pardubicka” w czeskich Pardubicach, pokazuje jak wielką cenę – krańcowego wysiłku, strachu, bólu i nawet śmierci, płacą za tę pasjonującą ludzi rozrywkę główni zawodnicy – konie wyścigowe.
JACEK BŁAWUT
Born in 1950 in Zagórz Śląski. Cinematographer, scriptwriter, director. In 1982 he graduated from cinematography department at the National Film School in Łódź. Lecturer at the film schools in Berlin, Hannover, Toruń and also at the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing in Warsaw. Between 1992-94 he was a co-editor of the “World Film” magazine. Since 2003 a member of the European Film Academy. He has made several documentary films, also worked as cameraman for feature films. In 2008 he made his debut as a director of the fiction film “Before Twilight”. He has been awarded at many festivals in Poland and abroad.

In 1968 he emigrated from Poland to Israel. Known for “Cemetery of Rem” (1961), “13th Floor” (1966) and “The White Waltz” (1965).

The Film is an intriguing and immersive image like the best thriller. A remarkable, dramatic tale about the surprising customs of the Formative community precisely told and photographed. The main character here is a special species of these insects called the Amazon (Polyergus rufescens), which in the Formic world is equivalent to the rogue horde of Hun Attila. The attacks of the Amazon Army on the nest of milder species of ants resemble scenes from the best battle films, but the struggle is really “to death”.
Film jest obrazem intrygującym i wciągającym niczym najlepszy thriller. Niezwykła, dramatyczna opowieść o zaskakujących obyczajach mrówczych społeczności, precyzyjnie opowiedziana i sfotografowana. Głównym bohaterem jest tu szczególny gatunek tych owadów zwany Amazonką (Polyergus rufescens), który w mrówczym świecie jest odpowiednikiem zbójeckich hord Huna Attyli. Napady armii Amazonek na gniazda łagodniejszych gatunków mrówek, przypominają sceny z najlepszych filmów batalistycznych – tyle, że tutaj walka toczy się naprawdę „na śmierć i życie”.

Born in 1927 in Łuck. Director, screenwriter, and journalist. Graduate of the National Polish Film School in Łódź. After 1981 he immigrated to the USA, where he worked as a columnist for Polish newspapers published in London and New York. He died in Salt Lake City in 2015.

An Ordinary Professor of Film and Photography and the Dean of the Radio and Television Department of the Silesia University in Katowice. He has received a number of prestigious awards for his excellent documentary films, which focus primarily on arts or sports and include “Cross and Axe”, “Hockey”, “Olympiad”, “A Few Stories about Man” at festivals in Bilbao, Brussels, Leipzig, Marseilles, Oberhausen, San Sebastian and Cracow, among others.

A theatrical parable composed of symbolic images and painful diagnosis of Polish identity in the 1970s. Questions form Belza’s “Catechism of the Polish Child” sound shocking when asked in situations created by Wiszniewski. Eventually, children leave the most important ones unanswered.

Zadawane w filmie pytania z „Katechizmu polskiego dziecka” Bełzy brzmią wstrząsająco w sttuacjach wykreowanych przez reżysera, a najważniejsze z nich dzieci pozostawiają bez odpowiedzi.
