A passionate love story about two people of different backgrounds and temperaments, fatally mismatched and yet condemned by fate to each other. Set against the background of the Cold War in the 1950s in Poland, Berlin, Yugoslavia and Paris, the film depicts an impossible love story in impossible times.

PAWEŁ PAWLIKOWSKI
Director & scriptwriter. Born in 1957 in Warsaw. Studied literature and philosophy in Oxford. Worked for BBC making internationally awarded documentary films; garnered much acclaim for his BAFTA Award-winning film “Last Resort” which he wrote and directed in 2000, and “My Summer of Love”, which also won a BAFTA and a string of other awards at festivals around the world. A recipient of the PFFA Wings Award in 2012. Oscar winner for “Ida” (2015). Currently he lives in Warsaw and teaches direction and screenwriting at the Wajda School.
