SYNOPSIS
“My first man was a German named Gunter,” reveals Halina Zach, the protagonist of this war film, a recollection of how memory tends to focus on fleeting moments of happiness. The interviews and archival photos of occupied Warsaw are supplemented with fragments of rehearsals for a theatre monodrama about love at the time of war. Zofia Wichłacz, the young actress reading Halina Zach’s memoirs, prepares for the performance under the tutelage of Krystyna Janda.
