SYNOPSIS
This film tells the story of people who were forced by history to leave their homelands and had to find new homes in foreign lands. This is a trans-European story of displacement with various causes and consequences. The filmmaker is an emigrant from Poland who has lived in Germany since childhood. Following the stories of his aunts and his grandmother, they lead him to the massacres in the Ukraine in 1943-44. He discovers the secrets of people and places that some would prefer to not remember, some remember with longing, and for others their darkest days are brought to mind.
