Maria, a young Belarusian artist, goes to Machkova Ruda in Poland to visit her old friend, an elderly Polish artist, Andrzej Strumillo who leads an isolated life in an idyllic rural setting. Leaving behind her husband in Minsk and her tired routine of everyday life, she finds herself in a pristine, fairy-tale like place. Day by day their friendship and affection grow. They connect by painting together and through heartfelt conversations. This harmony is shaken by constant calls from her husband who demands she return home, but wants to stay longer.
